Since I had to go to work on Saturday, I decided to have some fun in the morning before I went in. So I drove down to John U. Lloyd Park in Dania Beach. I used to go there quite often, particularly when I was a volunteer there helping to excavate sea turtle nests after they hatched, but I hadn’t been back there in about 7 years. So it was along time coming getting back there and it was fun to remember my sea-turtle days as I walked along the beach. I was really looking forward to walking out on the jetty and watching all the big ships pull in and out of Port Everglades, but to my dismay, the jetty was closed and surrounded by a security fence. I still enjoyed my couple hours there, though, and as I left the park, I next stopped briefly at North Hollywood Beach Park along the intracoastal for a quick hike along the boardwalk before I headed off to work.
