The big day for my Hawaii trip has finally arrived. I’ve been dreaming of going to Hawaii for as long as I can remember, but never thought I’d really have the chance to go. I’ve been discussing the possibilty of going with a couple really good friends for a few years now and the more we talked about it, the more serious it got. I’ve also been talking with my friend C-Lo about it for a while and after we made up our minds to go for it, we started putting the wheels into motion and everything started to fall into place. I was going to invite my other Hawaii-dreaming friends, but they just had a baby and it wouldn’t be feasible for them to go at this time. We decided to go to Oahu, and we were going to stay at C-Lo’s timeshare on Waikiki Beach. I did a lot of research on where to go and what to do on the island and ended up planning a whole itinerary for our trip.
After a 5 1/2 hour flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles, a 5-hour layover at the Los Angeles airport and another five-and-a-half-hour flight to Honolulu, I finally arrived in Hawaii at 5pm Hawaii time, where C-Lo had arrived an hour earlier. Both exhausted and very weary, we took the shuttle to our hotel with two things on our mind – food and sleep! We walked across the street from the hotel to Cheseseburger In Paradise, a popular Hawaiian restaurant, where I enjoyed a scrumptious Kahlua pork sandwich. We then went back to the hotel where we collapsed into a much-needed sleep.
